Spinning Boot Camp with Abby Franquemont
Workshop Description: Are you interested in learning to spin? Do you have a wheel or a spindle, or are you thinking of buying one or both? What do you really need? How long does it take to learn this stuff? What’s the RIGHT way to spin? What’s plying, and do you have to do it? Can you only spin wool or is there other stuff too? How can you tell if fiber is good? What kinds of fiber are there? How much should it cost? Where can you get it? What kind do you want? Do you have questions, confusions, and need straight answers and a chance to try things out hands-on? Need the confidence to decide if this is for you, and the skills to take home and practice? Spend a day, and get what you need.
Student skill level: This is ideal for the would-be spinner and the brand-new spinner alike, and it’s the perfect class to take at the start of a festival to turn you into the informed consumer you want to be.
Students to bring: Wheel or spindle if you already have one.
Materials fee: Included in the cost of the workshop. Coffee, continental breakfast, and vegan-friendly buffet lunch are also provided.
Date and Time: Thursday, October 15, 2020. 9am-4pm.
