Our JMac Lazy Kates are one of the few items we make that we did not design. After producing the JMac Lazy Kate for over a decade, sales outpaced both the capacity of Will’s tiny shop and his free time. In the Spring of 2015, Will asked us to take over production of the JMac Lazy Kates and let him get back to his true passions – hand spinning and model trains. We gratefully accepted and are proud to add the JMac Lazy Kates to our product lineup.
The JMac Lazy Kates are available in 3, 4, and 6 ply in your choice of cherry, walnut, maple, purpleheart, and padauk. The cherry, walnut and maple versions have matching bobbin support blocks while the purpleheart and padauk versions have maple bobbin supports. The stainless steel bobbin rods can be placed in a cavity in the base for storage or travel. Each JMac Lazy Kate is hand sanded prior to receiving a durable lacquer finish and being hand numbered and signed.
Just about any bobbin will fit on these lazy kates – even the Hansen bulky. Our own bulky bobbins fit as well, but a space must be left in between if using more than one of our bulky bobbins (only two fit on a three ply).
