The color is lightly variegated from tan to light brown; locks are relatively indistinct but easy to sort and process. While it is rare to find two relatively similar breeds crossed with each other, this deliciously soft fleece with bouncy locks is a good example of the two breeds working well together.

A fun crossbreed measuring as much as 9″ in length with a medium to soft hand. This fleece has thick, bold locks that are cotted (lightly felted) at the cut ends. In order to be spun, this fleece will require some work with a Lock Pop or combs and there will be a fair amount of waste. However, if used for a felting project – vegan sheep skins come to mind – this fleece is ready to use as is. Pricing on this fleece has been lowered to reflect the assumption of loss when processing for spinning.

You can see the effect of the CVM on this fleece, as it sports several hues of gray – sometimes even within the same lock. Unfortunately, this fleece had a mishap in the washing process and is a little felted. It will not make a great fleece for hand spinning, but the curly and wavy locks would be great to felt further. A very long Lincoln fleece with thick, dense locks measuring nine to eleven inches in length. These lustrous locks feature a variety of shades from silver to dark gray and tan to dark brown. As is common in fleece this long, this Lincoln is lightly matted and will need some hand teasing and opening with a flicker or Lock Pop prior to further prep or spinning from the lock. This is a Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em breed and each order of four ounces or more will receive a passport sticker.

A highly energized, creamy white Merino crossbreed fleece. This one could be the picture next to the dictionary entry for “sproing.” Much of this fleece resembles a BFL although it is a Merino crossbreed with a smattering of Cormo, Lincoln, and Wensleydale in its lineage. It measures 5″ when stretched, but relaxes to around 3 inches in length, and has a next to skin soft hand. This fleece has a little bit of dirt in the tips but don’t let that scare you off; it will fall out in the fiber prep stage.

This is our first offering of the Racka breed. It consists of a coarse guard hair that is as long as 11″ and a relatively soft undercoat as long as 5″ in length. This sheep is raised in a wildlife conservancy, so not much care was given to the quality of the fleece; as such it is lightly cotted and some vegetable matter in it. We recommend blending the two coats together, as trying to separate them will likely result in a large amount of waste. This fleece is mostly white and tan, but at time shows some browns and grays.
