We see a lot of this particular crossbreed, but this fleece is unique in that it looks mostly like a BFL fleece but with tips that are easy to open. The 6″ locks are mostly uniform in structure, and there is some yolk (yellowing) throughout the fleece.

A Finn fleece with thicker, bolder locks than we typically see in this breed. However, the 6″ locks are still energized and soft, as one would expect for Finn. This bright white fleece does have some yellowing (yolk) on the tips which will likely blend into a more creamy than bright white color once processed. As with most of the Finn fleece that we find, the tips do have some trapped dirt which will fall out easily with a flicker, Lock Pop, or combs.

This lovely lamb fleece comes from a crossbreed of 50% Teeswater, 25% CVM, and 25% Wensleydale, so it’s not surprising that it measures seven inches and longer and has plenty of luster. It is crimpy and soft, and about 2/3 white and 1/3 black with a smattering of grays. This fleece is in our Imperfect category for having more vegetable matter than we typically allow; it is mostly large pieces that come out easily but it does need to be processed by hand. Sold as a whole fleece weighing 2.1 pounds.

This fleece has a relatively soft handle that will be next to skin soft for most people and will be interesting to process and spin.

This is our first offering of the Racka breed. It consists of a coarse guard hair that is as long as 11″ and a relatively soft undercoat as long as 5″ in length. This sheep is raised in a wildlife conservancy, so not much care was given to the quality of the fleece; as such it is lightly cotted and some vegetable matter in it. We recommend blending the two coats together, as trying to separate them will likely result in a large amount of waste. This fleece is mostly white and tan, but at time shows some browns and grays.
