A fun four-breed cross measuring 4.5″ in length. The locks are both crimpy and wavy, as sometimes happens in a crossbreed. This fleece did pick up some variegation in its color from the CVM lineage and the tans and light grays are best described as oatmeal in color. Don’t you need more fiber in your diet?

This Finn fleece is characterized by thin, energized, bright white locks. The stark whiteness of this fleece was actually hard to photograph! It has a few tips with a little bit of yellow cast (yolk) and other that hold some dirt in spite of three extra washes, but that is just part of dealing with this unique breed.

Both also have some hints of brown, while the tog also has a smattering of gray fibers. Considering the relatively similar lengths, this fleece is probably best suited for a project that will blend both fibers together, rather than separate them. You can see the effect of the CVM on this fleece, as it sports several hues of gray – sometimes even within the same lock. Unfortunately, this fleece had a mishap in the washing process and is a little felted. It will not make a great fleece for hand spinning, but the curly and wavy locks would be great to felt further. A 5″ Perendale fleece with distinct, tapered locks. This fleece has a decent amount of sheen, is bright white with tan tips, and has a medium hand. It does have some vegetable matter in it, and some spots where the tips are caked in dirt that did not wash out, even with a good soaking. Both the VM and dirt will come out in the fiber prep stage, but will require a little extra elbow grease, which is why this fleece is in our Imperfect category.
