You wouldn’t be tempted to call this gorgeous Bond fleece any color other than brown, but it’s a mix of medium browns and gray-browns, with a smattering of blonde tips. The bold, often indistinct locks measure around 4.5″ in length and have a medium to soft hand. Sold as a half fleece weighing 3.1 pounds.

This crossbreed is unique in that most producers breed long wools with short wools, or coarse wools to fine ones. This cross, however, is between two our our favorite medium wools. The result is a 3.5″ to 4″ lock with a medium hand and heavy sproing or snap back. The chocolate brown locks end in blonde tips that are easy to open and process.

Is curlalicious a word? We feel like it should be, and you will too when you see the delicious curlicue tips of this Border Leicester lamb fleece. The locks are five to six inches in length and range from deep brown to chocolate to dark tan in color. As a lamb fleece, this has a softer than usual hand for the breed and is soft enough for next to skin for most people.

A rarely-seen crossbreed whose lineage is nearly 90% Cormo. While this fleece retains the soft hand and energy of that breed, the Border Leicester imparts some length and easy to open tips. The locks are 3.5 to 4 inches long and are dark brown in color, with a hint of gray throughout and some sun blonde at the tips.

The result is less length and a softer hand than one would expect from most Corriedales grown here in the US; the crimp and hand more closely resemble Merino than Corriedale.

Outside of a Jacob fleece, you do not typically see the stark white and brown coloring this fleece exhibits. Outside of a BFL fleece, you do not typically see the uber-curly, highly energized locks this fleece exhibits. So, obviously, this fleece has neither of those breeds in its lineage! This is a brown and white, 4″ long, sproingy, three way crossbreed of CVM, Corriedale, and Wensleydale, that will be next to skin soft for most people.

While it is rare to find two relatively similar breeds crossed with each other, this barely-there fleece with energized locks is a good example of the two breeds working well together.
