A longwool crossbreed that has a medium hand and wavy six inch locks. While neither of these breeds is known for being particularly easy to process, we’ve found the tips on this fleece to pop open quite easily.

An uber-curly long wool crossbreed that could perhaps be best described as an improved BFL. It’s high-energy locks measure around 5″ in length and display a spectrum of colors from black to gray to brown to blonde. We liked this crossbreed so much, it was featured in our Q1 2025 Bliss club.

A brown varietal of the Black Welsh Mountain breed; this fleece is more gray and tan than brown. It has a medium to coarse handle with locks measuring 3.5 to 4 inches in length. Charcoal gray Black Welsh Mountain measuring two to three inches in length. Lock structure and length seem to be variable on this fleece, but the handle is consistently about halfway between coarse and medium. This fleece could be a good woolen spin or your next felt project. It is a rare breed and does have more vegetable matter than we prefer to see in our fleece; that is something we live with when working with rare breeds. Sold as a highly skirted whole fleece weighing just over half a pound at 9.5 ounces.

A variegated brown and gray Corriedale measuring 3.5 to 4 inches in length. This fleece was grown domestically, but comes from Australian breeding stock, which is much finer than typical US Corriedale. The result is less length and a softer hand than one would expect from most Corriedales grown here in the US; the crimp and hand more closely resemble Merino than Corriedale.

A fun four-breed cross measuring 4.5″ in length. The locks are both crimpy and wavy, as sometimes happens in a crossbreed. This fleece did pick up some variegation in its color from the CVM lineage and the tans and light grays are best described as oatmeal in color. Don’t you need more fiber in your diet?

A fun crossbreed measuring as much as 9″ in length with a medium to soft hand. This fleece has thick, bold locks that are cotted (lightly felted) at the cut ends. In order to be spun, this fleece will require some work with a Lock Pop or combs and there will be a fair amount of waste. However, if used for a felting project – vegan sheep skins come to mind – this fleece is ready to use as is. Pricing on this fleece has been lowered to reflect the assumption of loss when processing for spinning.
