The ultimate batt removal and storage tool! The Batt Lifter is the only tool designed to remove virtually an entire batt and store it without matting or felting before you are ready to use it. Fiber can be stored indefinitely, yet is ready to use anytime. Using the Batt Lifter removes more fiber from the carder than any other method of batt removal and with most fibers – even suri alpaca – removes 100% of the batt.

Additional refills for our Batt Lifter – the ultimate batt removal and storage tool! With these additional refills, fiber can be stored indefinitely, yet is ready to use anytime. If working one small project at a time, a 5 pack typically will store the whole project. For larger projects, whole fleece, or multiple fleece, we recommend a 25 pack.

These refills are approximately 11″ wide to fit our standard width Batt Lifter for an 8″ wide carder. Make sure to select Doublewide if you have a 16″ or Doublewide drum carder.

We see a lot of this particular crossbreed, but this fleece is unique in that it looks mostly like a BFL fleece but with tips that are easy to open. The 6″ locks are mostly uniform in structure, and there is some yolk (yellowing) throughout the fleece.

Charcoal gray Black Welsh Mountain measuring two to three inches in length. Lock structure and length seem to be variable on this fleece, but the handle is consistently about halfway between coarse and medium. This fleece could be a good woolen spin or your next felt project. It is a rare breed and does have more vegetable matter than we prefer to see in our fleece; that is something we live with when working with rare breeds. Sold as a highly skirted whole fleece weighing just over half a pound at 9.5 ounces.
