A gray Romney with a fleece break in the center of the 5″ lock. This is a gorgeous fleece with a medium to soft hand and lightly variegated gray hues. The locks snap easily in half, meaning this fleece may be destined for a felt project or a spinning project that requires relatively short (2-2.5″) fleece. Sold in one pound (16 oz.) increments.

Bright white and big crimp! This unique cross of Border Leicester and CVM looks like someone took a CVM and just made everything bigger: 5″ long locks, big french fry crimp, and slightly larger fiber diameter – resulting in a medium hand rather than the typically silky soft hand of CVM. Still, this is an all around fun and squishy fleece.

This crossbreed is unique in that most producers breed long wools with short wools, or coarse wools to fine ones. This cross, however, is between two our our favorite medium wools. The result is a 3.5″ to 4″ lock with a medium hand and heavy sproing or snap back. The chocolate brown locks end in blonde tips that are easy to open and process.

This fleece looks and acts like a BFL, albeit with a softer hand than usual and without those tight tips that are tough to process. This is easily one of the nicest Tunis fleece we have ever seen. Thick, bold locks measuring five inches in length, nice crimp, and loft. A soft fine wool crossbreed with 4″ locks. The color is lightly variegated from tan to light brown; locks are relatively indistinct but easy to sort and process. While it is rare to find two relatively similar breeds crossed with each other, this barely-there fleece with energized locks is a good example of the two breeds working well together.

Drum Carder Refurbishment

A full refurbishment includes installation of new drums with new cloth and replacing any belts, bearings, and hardware as necessary. We don’t refinish or replace any of the wood parts, so the carder will not look new, but it will function as close to new as possible. If any wood parts or electrical (wiring, motor, etc.) need to be replaced, additional charges will be incurred. The charge for refurbishment includes return shipping in the U.S., but it is up to you to ship the carder to us or deliver it to us at a fiber festival. We are happy to pick it up from you at any fiber festival we attend, please check our schedule. Otherwise, please package it carefully so as to avoid damage during shipping and send it to us at the address below. If you have any questions, please let us know prior to paying for a refurbishment.
