A four breed cross resulting in a 5″ fleece with a medium hand and curly locks. You can see the effect of the CVM on this fleece, as it sports several hues of gray – sometimes even within the same lock. Unfortunately, this fleece had a mishap in the washing process and is a little felted. It will not make a great fleece for hand spinning, but the curly and wavy locks would be great to felt further. Sold in one pound increments.

A variegated black and gray Lincoln fleece measuring seven to nine inches in length. As is sometimes the case with long wools, this one has dirt and vegetable matter that did not come out in the wash, and is lightly felted in spots. It will need some work with a flicker or Lock Pop, but the resulting fleece will be long, mildly lustrous, and have gorgeous depth of color. As an Imperfect fleece, its pricing reflects the additional processing it will take.

A 5″ Perendale fleece with distinct, tapered locks. This fleece has a decent amount of sheen, is bright white with tan tips, and has a medium hand. It does have some vegetable matter in it, and some spots where the tips are caked in dirt that did not wash out, even with a good soaking. Both the VM and dirt will come out in the fiber prep stage, but will require a little extra elbow grease, which is why this fleece is in our Imperfect category.

A rare 5-way crossbreed in which a purebred Leicester Longwool was bred with a sheep that was equal parts Corriedale, Lincoln, Cotswold, and CVM. The result is a 5″ long staple with a hand that isn’t soft but also isn’t too coarse. This would be a good fleece for a sweater or socks.

A highly energized, creamy white Merino crossbreed fleece. This one could be the picture next to the dictionary entry for “sproing.” Much of this fleece resembles a BFL although it is a Merino crossbreed with a smattering of Cormo, Lincoln, and Wensleydale in its lineage. It measures 5″ when stretched, but relaxes to around 3 inches in length, and has a next to skin soft hand. This fleece has a little bit of dirt in the tips but don’t let that scare you off; it will fall out in the fiber prep stage.

This is our first offering of the Racka breed. It consists of a coarse guard hair that is as long as 11″ and a relatively soft undercoat as long as 5″ in length. This sheep is raised in a wildlife conservancy, so not much care was given to the quality of the fleece; as such it is lightly cotted and some vegetable matter in it. We recommend blending the two coats together, as trying to separate them will likely result in a large amount of waste. This fleece is mostly white and tan, but at time shows some browns and grays.
