Our Flicker utilizes a turned maple handle tenoned into an alder back. This combination of woods puts the bulk of the weight in the palm of the user’s hand, making this flicker as ergonomic as possible. The smooth, round handle provides for a comfortable grip in small or large hands. The 2.5” x 4.5” carding pad has 72 teeth per inch set in a vulcanized canvas foundation.

Our hand-held packing brush allows the user to create a 30% larger batt. The nylon bristles also help dissipate static from carding and help to control fly-away fibers. Batts that are packed with a brush tend to release from the card cloth easier than those that are not packed – leaving less fibers behind to clean and your batt intact. This is the packing tool of choice when using a diz.

Additional refills for our Batt Lifter – the ultimate batt removal and storage tool! With these additional refills, fiber can be stored indefinitely, yet is ready to use anytime. If working one small project at a time, a 5 pack typically will store the whole project. For larger projects, whole fleece, or multiple fleece, we recommend a 25 pack.

These refills are approximately 11″ wide to fit our standard width Batt Lifter for an 8″ wide carder. Make sure to select Doublewide if you have a 16″ or Doublewide drum carder.

Similar to a flicker but with longer teeth, our Cleaning Brush reaches the bottom of the card cloth when cleaning a Blending Board or Drum Carder. We recommend cleaning with a Cleaning Brush when switching colors or fibers and after each use. Unlike a flicker, the length and geometry of the carding cloth on the Cleaning Brush do not work well for flicking open locks of fiber.
